Meta Launches Personal AI Agent Muse

Published 8 September 2026

Meta has launched Muse, a new personal artificial intelligence agent designed to assist users with a wide range of everyday tasks, from online shopping and sending emails to planning complex trips and working towards long-term goals. The company is positioning the AI as a key component of its strategy to compete in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence landscape. Muse operates autonomously, capable of opening browsers, filling out forms, and negotiating on behalf of users. Meta states that the agent can continue working in the background after a user closes an application, checking in for approval on significant actions such as purchases or when changes occur. The service is being rolled out in the United States for users aged 18 and older via dedicated Muse apps on iOS and Android, its website muse.ai, and through WhatsApp. Integration with Meta's AI glasses is also planned. Meta emphasizes that privacy and safety are central to Muse's design. The agent runs within a secure virtual machine in the cloud, intended to isolate user data and activity from other users. A secondary AI system, Sentinel, monitors Muse's actions outside this secure environment.
