Meta Announces $1,299 VR Glasses for Spring 2027

Meta has announced a pair of lightweight virtual-reality glasses priced at $1,299.99, with sales expected to begin in spring 2027. The device shifts the company’s VR design from a bulky headset to glasses connected by a wire to a separate computing puck, while targeting entertainment, gaming and productivity uses. Meta says the glasses weigh about 100 grams and use microOLED displays. The puck contains the processor, battery and other computing components, and can be clipped to a pocket or bag. Meta says its battery supports up to three hours of media playback. Those figures and specifications come from the company’s announcement; the product has not yet reached retail, and its performance in extended everyday use remains untested. Users can navigate with eye tracking and hand gestures, including pinching fingers to select items. Meta says the glasses can also connect to a computer and display multiple virtual screens. A virtual keyboard and trackpad can appear when users place their hands on a flat surface.
