Met Éireann issues yellow rain warnings for seven Irish counties

Met Éireann has issued yellow rain warnings for seven Irish counties, forecasting heavy rain and possible thunderstorms that could lead to localised flooding and difficult travel conditions. The warnings mark a shift from the recent warm, dry weather, with cooler temperatures expected from next week. The first warning, in effect from 9 p.m. Friday, September 11, to 9 a.m. Saturday, September 12, covers Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo. A second warning for Cork and Kerry runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday. Met Éireann stated the potential impacts include localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions, and damage from lightning. The rain is expected to move southeastwards on Saturday morning, lingering over southern counties for much of the day. Heavy rain is forecast for the south and southwest, particularly in the morning and again in the evening. Highest temperatures on Saturday will range from 16C to 21C. The wet spell follows a generally dry and bright Friday, with temperatures reaching 15C to 20C. Any lingering rain in the south should clear early Saturday night, leaving a mostly dry night with some mist and fog patches.
