Messi Agrees to Buy Spanish Club Eldense

Lionel Messi is reportedly on the verge of acquiring a majority stake in Spanish second-division club CD Eldense, marking a significant expansion of his football ownership portfolio. This potential deal follows his recent acquisition of UE Cornellà, a fifth-tier Spanish side. According to multiple reports, Messi has reached a verbal agreement with Eldense's current owners, a Colombian investment group led by businessman Juan Carlos Trujillo. The finalization of the takeover is expected within days, pending legal and contractual procedures and approval from Spain's National Sports Council. This move would make Eldense the second Spanish club under Messi's ownership, alongside Cornellà, which he purchased in April 2026. While Cornellà operates as a semi-professional club, Eldense competes in Spain's professional football system. This distinction means Eldense would represent Messi's first investment in a fully professional Spanish club. Messi also holds an investment in Uruguayan club Deportivo LSM alongside former Barcelona teammate Luis Suárez.
