McDonald's India X account posts intern claims deleted

Published 7 September 2026

McDonald's India's official X account was used over the weekend to post a series of allegations from an individual claiming to be an unpaid intern, detailing financial hardship and memecoin trading losses. The posts, which appeared on Sunday, September 6, 2026, were later deleted, and the company responded with a meme. The messages, written in the first person, claimed the individual managed several of McDonald's Asian social media accounts but had not received a salary since December 2025. The alleged intern named a supervisor, Amit Joshi, as responsible for the nonpayment. The posts further stated that the lack of wages had forced the individual to take on two additional jobs in customer support and delivery. According to the messages, financial losses from trading memecoins had left the person struggling to afford food, with one post stating, "I literally starve every day because I lose all my money on them." Further posts on the account reportedly claimed the unpaid dues exceeded 60,000 rupees, approximately $650, and appealed for community support. One message also included a photograph identified as Joshi, reportedly from a cricket match.
