McCullum recruits Pietersen as England whiteball mentor

England whiteball coach Brendon McCullum has appointed former captain Kevin Pietersen as a specialist mentor for the men's whiteball teams, a role designed to challenge the coaching staff and energize the squad ahead of the 2027 Cricket World Cup. "I rang Kev Pietersen and said, do you want to come and help us challenge for a World Cup? He said, I was just criticising you a lot, not long ago. I said, I don't care about that," McCullum told reporters.
