Manhunt for suspect linked to two NYC killings

A massive manhunt is underway in New York City for a 31-year-old man accused of killing two people in separate shootings in the Bronx and Brooklyn within a 48-hour period, police said. The suspect, identified as Jesus Acosta, is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at a Bronx deli early Tuesday, August 25, and a deadly shooting at a Brooklyn restaurant two days earlier, on Sunday, August 23. The latest incident occurred shortly after midnight on Tuesday at the 149 Grill and Deli at 143 East 149th Street in the Bronx. According to police, a gunman entered the store, approached a 33-year-old customer, and opened fire, striking him multiple times. The victim was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he was initially listed in stable condition but later died from his injuries, and the case was deemed a homicide. Surveillance footage shows the gunman firing at the customer before running behind the counter, taking cash from the register, and fleeing the scene. Police said Acosta was last seen wearing sweatpants and a maroon hooded sweatshirt, which he discarded about a half-block away on Walton Avenue.
