Manchester United posts record revenue and £43m loss

Manchester United reported record revenue of £677.6 million for the year ended June 30, 2026, but still posted a net loss of about £43 million, its seventh consecutive annual deficit. Revenue rose 1.7% from £666.5 million a year earlier, while the loss widened from £33 million. The club’s accounts listed £8.2 million in exceptional items, most of them connected to the January departure of manager Ruben Amorim, who had been in charge for 14 months. Finance costs also weighed on the results. The club recorded an operating profit of £22.6 million, but a separate report put its pre-tax loss at £46.9 million, largely because of net finance costs. The available figures do not fully explain the difference between the pre-tax and net losses. Broadcasting income rose as United finished third in the Premier League, up from 15th the previous season. Commercial and matchday revenue fell, however. Reports cited the absence of a training-kit sponsor for part of the year and 10 fewer home games among the factors behind those declines. United played no European competition during the financial year. The club reported wage costs of £302 million, down 3.6% from the previous year.
