Man stabbed after crash; 3 arrested

A 20-year-old man was fatally stabbed following a car crash in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, on Friday, September 4, 2026. Jamie Evans, from Stone, was found with a stab wound after his red Ford Fiesta collided with a grey Audi on Orme Road shortly after 5 p.m. Emergency services and members of the public attempted to provide aid, but Evans was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries. His family has released a tribute, describing Evans as a wonderful son, loving brother, and doting uncle whose warmth, kindness, and sense of humour brought happiness to those around him. They highlighted his passion for cricket and fitness, noting that these pursuits reflected his determination, energy, and zest for life. The family also expressed gratitude to the members of the public who assisted Evans at the scene. Evans's cricket club, Norton-in-Hales, also paid tribute, recalling his exceptional talent from a young age. He made his debut at 14, was recognized for his wicketkeeping skills, and scored his first century at 16. The club remembered him as a talented cricketer, a lovely lad, and a great friend. Staffordshire Police are investigating the incident.
