Man Dies, 6 Injured After Sign Collapse at Big Church Festival

A man has died and at least six other people were injured after a large sign collapsed at the Big Church Festival in West Sussex on Friday, August 28, 2026. The incident prompted the immediate cancellation of the event and a major emergency response. Emergency services were called to the festival site at Wiston Park near Steyning at approximately 3:38 p.m. following reports that a large wooden sign had fallen on attendees. A 41-year-old man from Eastbourne was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
