Man Charged After Serious Assault in Meath

A man in his 40s has been charged in connection with a serious assault that left another man in his 20s with severe injuries. The incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026, at a residential property in Ballivor, County Meath. Gardaí and emergency services responded to the scene, where the younger man was found to have sustained serious injuries. He was initially taken to Mullingar Hospital for treatment before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. As of Wednesday, September 9, he was reported to be continuing to receive medical care there. Following the incident, Gardaí arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the investigation. He was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in County Meath.
