Man arrested after stolen bus driven into cars in Telford

A bus driver was assaulted and ejected from his vehicle in Telford on Friday evening, after which the stolen bus was driven on the wrong side of the road and collided with multiple cars. A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and dangerous driving. The incident occurred at approximately 6:37 p.m. on September 18, 2026, on Court Street in Madeley. West Mercia Police reported that officers were called following reports of an assault on a bus driver. The driver was forced from the vehicle during the attack. The bus, identified as the service 100 to Sutton Hill, was then driven along Park Way towards the High Street. Police said it traveled on the wrong side of the road and collided with several vehicles. The suspect was apprehended when the bus was eventually stopped and was taken into police custody. The bus driver was treated by paramedics for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported despite the collisions. Detective Sergeant Taigh Lannie of West Mercia Police described the incident as alarming and said officers responded quickly to make the arrest. Video footage of the alleged attack has circulated on social media.
