Mamata Banerjee's niece found dead at West Bengal home

Brishti Mukherjee, the 28-year-old niece of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was found dead at her home in Birbhum district on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Police said her body was discovered hanging in a room on the second floor of her residence in Kusumba village, under the Rampurhat police station area. According to a senior police officer, the body was recovered in the morning after family members informed authorities. It has been sent to Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem examination.
