Mahmud takes six as West Indies make 356 in Sylhet

Published 6 November 2026

Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud took 6 for 90 as West Indies were dismissed for 356 on the second day of the second Test in Sylhet on November 6. Bangladesh reached stumps at 88 for 3, 268 runs behind, though one match account later gave the hosts’ wicket tally as four. Towhid Hridoy was unbeaten on 29 and Mushfiqur Rahim on 19 in the opening account of the close-of-play score. Mahmud’s sixth wicket came after Joshua Bishop reviewed an on-field lbw decision. Replays showed an inside edge, and the decision was overturned, denying Mahmud a hat-trick after he had dismissed Amir Jangoo and West Indies captain Roston Chase on successive deliveries. Mahmud later removed Bishop, with wicketkeeper Litton Das completing a stumping. Jangoo top-scored for West Indies with 133 from 212 balls. Kevin Wickham, making his Test debut, scored 61, while Justin Greaves made 51. West Indies resumed at 235 for 4, with Jangoo on 111, and added to their total through partnerships before Bangladesh took the second new ball. Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed two wickets, including Greaves and Jayden Seales, as the innings ended at 356. The 6 for 90 was Mahmud’s fifth five-wicket haul in Tests. Reports...
