Lyle Foster joins Houston Dynamo on loan
South African international striker Lyle Foster has joined Major League Soccer club Houston Dynamo on loan from English side Burnley, with an option for a permanent transfer. The move was confirmed on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and will see Foster play in Texas until the end of June 2027. Foster, 26, sought a new opportunity after finding limited playing time at Burnley following their relegation from the Premier League. He made 26 league appearances for Burnley last season, scoring three goals, but was not part of their plans for the current Championship campaign. The loan deal provides Foster with a chance to revive his club career. Houston Dynamo president of soccer, Pat Onstad, welcomed Foster, highlighting his ability to threaten defenses, link play, and contribute defensively through his work rate. Onstad stated that Foster's experience in the Premier League and on the international stage will strengthen the team as they prepare for a strong finish to the season. The Dynamo are currently second in the Western Conference. The transfer includes an option for Houston to make the move permanent for a reported fee of 7 million.
