Luke Evans Shares Letter to Tim Curry Before Actor's Death

Actor Luke Evans has shared details about a letter he sent to Tim Curry shortly before the legendary performer's death, describing a final, poignant connection through their shared role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Evans, who recently completed a seven-month Broadway run in The Rocky Horror Show, told Entertainment Weekly he wrote to Curry to thank him for his iconic performance in the original 1975 film, which inspired Evans' own portrayal. According to Evans, Curry was very ill and struggling to speak when he received the letter. "He was very appreciative. I think he was very sick when he got the letter he was struggling a lot and I've spoken to his publisher since," Evans said. "He struggled to speak and talk, so I think he was really in a bad place, but what a legacy." Evans described feeling a deep connection to Curry despite never meeting him, noting that news coverage of Curry's death on August 25, 2026, invariably began with the Frank-N-Furter role. "And I had just played him, so there was this real deep connection that I had, even though I'd never met the man," Evans reflected. "It was a strange, beautiful, tragic way to end my New York experience, but I'll never forget it.
