LPG refill booking interval unified to 25 days

The central government has revised the booking interval for domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) refills to a uniform 25 days for all consumers nationwide, effective immediately. The change, announced on Monday, September 7, 2026, eliminates the previous distinction between urban and rural areas, allowing consumers in rural regions to book refills sooner. Union Minister of State for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Tourism Suresh Gopi stated that the decision was made in response to an improvement in the domestic LPG supply situation and a significant reduction in the backlog of refill requests. Previously, consumers in urban areas could book an LPG refill every 25 days, while those in rural areas faced a longer waiting period of 45 days between bookings. This revised policy brings all domestic LPG users onto a common booking schedule. The restrictions on booking intervals were initially introduced as a temporary measure to manage demand and ensure equitable distribution of LPG supplies. These measures were put in place amid supply pressures linked to the conflict in West Asia, which had raised concerns over global energy markets and potential disruptions.
