Livingston sacks manager Glenn Whelan

Livingston Football Club has dismissed manager Glenn Whelan after a brief tenure, citing an unsatisfactory start to the 2026-27 season. Whelan, along with assistant head coach Danny Ventre, were informed of their departure on Sunday night, September 6, 2026. The decision followed a 1-0 home defeat to Stenhousemuir on Saturday, September 5, which left the club fifth in the Scottish Championship standings. Whelan was appointed in May following Livingston's relegation from the Scottish Premiership. His tenure spanned nine games across all competitions. The club narrowly missed advancing from the group stage of the Premier Sports Cup in July. In the Scottish Championship, Whelan's side secured two wins and three losses from their five league matches. In a statement, the club expressed gratitude for Whelan and Ventre's service but emphasized a commitment to achieving higher levels of success. "Mediocrity is not an acceptable solution, and we will continue to work to find the leader that delivers on the ambitions and aspirations of sustained, high-level success that we expect at Livingston," the statement read.
