Liverpool signs N'Guessan from Saint-Etienne
Liverpool Football Club announced on Friday, September 4, 2026, the signing of 18-year-old forward Djylian N'Guessan from French club Saint-Etienne. The highly-rated teenager is set to join the Premier League side permanently in January 2027. N'Guessan will spend the remainder of the current season on loan at French Ligue 1 club Stade Brestois, a move intended to provide him with continued top-flight experience. The transfer fee agreed for the Frenchman is reported to be €5 million, approximately £4.3 million. N'Guessan made his senior debut for Saint-Etienne in January 2025 at the age of 16. He has since made 13 senior appearances for the club, scoring one goal. He also represented France at the 2025 Under-20 World Cup, playing seven matches, and was named in the team of the tournament for the UEFA Under-17 European Championship the previous summer. Liverpool's acquisition of N'Guessan aligns with the club's recent strategy of recruiting promising young talent. He joins other recent signings such as goalkeeper Lucca Brughmanns, who was also signed as a teenager. During the summer transfer window, Liverpool also added senior players Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola to their squad.
