Liverpool agree €35m deal for Brughmans but loan depends on Mamardashvili exit

Published 31 August 2026

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign highly-rated 18-year-old goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from Belgian club Genk, with the player set to remain on loan in Belgium for the upcoming season. The transfer, reported by multiple sources on August 31, 2026, is structured with a fee of approximately 35 million euros, including add-ons, which would make Brughmans the most expensive teenage goalkeeper in history. The agreement includes a significant condition tied to the future of Liverpool's current backup goalkeeper, Giorgi Mamardashvili. According to reports, Brughmans will only join Liverpool immediately if Mamardashvili departs before the Premier League transfer deadline on September 1.
