Lioness Finale Reveals Kidnapper and Family Exit

The third season of Lioness ended with two major revelations: Aaliyah Amrohi was exposed as the mastermind behind both kidnappings of CIA operative Joe McNamara, and Joe returned home to find her family gone. The finale, titled The Unraveling, aired on Sunday, September 20, on Paramount. Throughout the season, characters had speculated that Ukraine or Iran was behind Joe's abduction. The final minutes revealed that Aaliyah, played by Stephanie Nur, had orchestrated both attempts from Doha, Qatar, seeking revenge against Joe and her team. In the first season, operative Cruz was sent to befriend Aaliyah and get close to her father, a terrorist financier. Cruz and Aaliyah fell in love, and Cruz ultimately killed Aaliyah's father in front of her before escaping. Nur said she was unaware in advance that her character would return for season three. After the first season wrapped, she said she kept having dreams about Aaliyah but had no expectation of being called back. She also described keeping the return secret as difficult, saying she avoided going to a coffee shop in Texas during filming after being recognized.
