Limerick murder-suicide investigation after Brazilian woman killed

Published 24 August 2026

Gardaí are investigating the death of a Brazilian woman in Limerick as a murder, treating the subsequent death of the chief suspect in Co Cork as a related suicide. The victim, 33-year-old Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, was found deceased in an apartment on Lower Cecil Street in Limerick City on the morning of Friday, August 21, 2026. Her body was discovered by Gardaí after friends waiting to meet her for work raised the alarm when she did not appear. Ms. Pereira Rosa, a law graduate from Sorocaba in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, had been living and working in Limerick. A postmortem examination confirmed she died violently from stab wounds.
