Lewis Hall signs Newcastle contract extension until 2031

Lewis Hall has signed a contract extension with Newcastle United that runs until 2031, adding two years to his previous terms and ending summer speculation that had linked the England left-back with Manchester United. The club confirmed the deal on September 11, 2026, days after Hall turned 22. Manchester United had reportedly identified Hall as a leading transfer target during the summer window, but Newcastle refused to entertain offers and told United last month that the defender was not for sale. Manager Matthias Jaissle had previously responded with a blunt no chance when asked about the reported interest. According to club sources speaking anonymously, the new deal contains no release clause, which would strengthen Newcastle's position if United or another club renewed their pursuit next summer. Hall, who joined from Chelsea in 2023, initially on a season-long loan that became permanent for a fee of around £28 million, has made 107 appearances for Newcastle and earned four England caps.
