Lenovo Unveils Fanless Concept Laptop
Lenovo has unveiled a concept laptop, codenamed Project AeroBlade, that showcases a novel fanless cooling system designed to enable ultra-thin and lightweight designs without sacrificing performance. The concept, presented at the IFA technology show in Berlin, Germany, utilizes solid-state active cooling technology developed in partnership with Frore Systems. The AeroBlade concept features Frore's AirJet technology, which Lenovo has integrated into its own Active Flow cooling system. Unlike traditional laptops that rely on rotating fans, this system employs multiple thin modules containing piezoelectric membranes. These membranes vibrate at ultrasonic frequencies, generating airflow to actively dissipate heat from the processor and other components. This approach aims to overcome a key limitation in ultrathin laptop design, where limited internal space often forces compromises in processor power or leads to performance throttling as temperatures rise. According to Lenovo, the AirJet system can generate significantly more back pressure than conventional cooling solutions, allowing for effective airflow even through small vents.
