Lenovo rollable laptop expands to 17 inches sideways

Lenovo has unveiled Project Swan, a concept rollable laptop that expands its display horizontally, at the IFA 2026 technology trade show. The device functions as a standard 14-inch laptop in its compact form but can unroll its display to a wider 17-inch, 16:9 aspect ratio when more screen real estate is needed. Measuring 17.9 millimeters thick and weighing 1.6 kilograms, Project Swan is designed for users who require multitasking capabilities, such as reviewing documents side-by-side, engaging in creative workflows, or managing dashboards. The rollable mechanism, activated by a button on the keyboard, allows the screen to expand smoothly and seamlessly, offering a larger viewing area without significant creases or ripples. This feature aims to provide the portability of a traditional thin-and-light laptop with the expanded workspace of a larger display, potentially eliminating the need for a separate portable monitor. This new concept represents an evolution of Lenovo's rollable technology. The company already offers the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, which expands vertically from 14 inches to 16.7 inches.
