Leao joins Galatasaray after rejecting Aston Villa bid

Rafael Leao has decided to join Galatasaray, rejecting a late bid from Aston Villa to secure a move to the Turkish champions. The 27-year-old Portugal winger informed Galatasaray of his decision after holding discussions with Villa manager Unai Emery, ending a protracted transfer saga involving the Premier League and Super Lig clubs. AC Milan had made Leao available this summer, and both Galatasaray and Aston Villa reached agreements with the Italian club for a package worth approximately 45 million euros plus add-ons. The final choice, however, rested with the player. Leao had initially agreed personal terms with Galatasaray on a contract worth 12 million euros per season.
