Lando Norris extends McLaren contract until 2030 F1 season

Lando Norris has signed a new long-term contract with McLaren, committing his future to the team until at least the end of the 2030 Formula 1 season. The reigning world champion, who is 26, announced the extension on August 29, 2026, following his victory at the Dutch Grand Prix. The deal includes a multiyear option that could keep him at the Woking-based team beyond 2030. Norris stated that the agreement allows him and the team to focus entirely on performance without the distraction of contract negotiations. He emphasized that the decision was not a reaction to McLaren's recent form, noting that discussions had been planned since he won his first world championship in Abu Dhabi in 2025. "This is a continuation of my last contract," Norris said. "We just want to be able to focus on doing our best job." The contract extension comes after a challenging start to the 2026 season for McLaren, which saw both cars fail to start the opening races in Australia and China.
