He was also a consistent starter for Spain during their World Cup triumph, contributing one goal and several assists. This marks his third consecutive nomination for the Ballon d'Or, having previously been recognized in 2024 and 2025, setting a new record for a teenage nominee. He is also a strong contender for the Kopa Trophy, awarded to the best young player, where he is aiming for a third consecutive win. Despite a hamstring injury in April, Yamal has returned to top form, scoring multiple goals in recent league matches.
