Laika Unveils Final Trailer for Stop-Motion Film Wildwood

Laika has released the final trailer for its stop-motion animated feature film "Wildwood," which is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on October 23, 2026. The trailer, unveiled on September 16, provides the most extensive look yet at the fantasy adventure, which is the studio's sixth stop-motion film and its first since 2019's "The Missing Link." The film is directed and produced by Laika CEO Travis Knight, with a screenplay by Chris Butler. It is based on the illustrated book series by Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis. The story follows teenager Prue McKeel, voiced by Peyton Elizabeth Lee, who embarks on a rescue mission into an enchanted forest known as the Impassable Wilderness after her baby brother is abducted by a murder of crows. She is joined by her classmate Curtis Mehlberg, voiced by Jacob Tremblay. The voice cast also includes Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Awkwafina, Amandla Stenberg, Tom Waits, Charlie Day, Richard E. Grant, Jemaine Clement, Maya Erskine, Jake Johnson, Tantoo Cardinal, Rob Delaney, and others. The film's score is composed by Dario Marianelli, with cinematography by Caleb Deschanel.
