Lagos to close OkeAfa Bridge for three weeks of repairs

The Lagos State Government has announced a three-week temporary closure of the OkeAfa Bridge in Isolo for rehabilitation works, with phased traffic diversions set to begin on Friday, August 28, 2026. The project, scheduled to conclude on September 18, 2026, will be executed in two phases to manage traffic flow on the busy axis. Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi disclosed the plan in a statement issued on Monday, August 24. He explained that the bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicular movement to facilitate the necessary repairs. The rehabilitation is being undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Works, through the Office of the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, in partnership with Messrs. Strabic Construction Limited. The first phase will run from August 28 to September 11, focusing on the outbound Isolo to Ejigbo section of the bridge. During this period, motorists traveling from Isolo towards Ejigbo will be diverted onto the Isolo-bound carriageway from Pako Roundabout. Traffic will operate in both directions along this section before vehicles rejoin the main carriageway at Mobil Filling Station.
