Los Angeles FC and Real Salt Lake played to a 2-2 draw on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in Sandy, Utah, with LAFC unable to hold onto two separate leads. The match saw Son Heung-min contribute a goal and an assist for LAFC, ending a seven-game stretch without a scoring contribution for the forward. Denis Bouanga opened the scoring for LAFC in the 14th minute, receiving a pass from Son Heung-min and finishing with a curling shot. The second half saw Real Salt Lake mount pressure, leading to Noel Caliskan scoring the tying goal in the 75th minute. Caliskan capitalized on a rebound after LAFC failed to clear the ball, striking it into the net. In the closing minutes, Son Heung-min had a chance to secure a late winner for LAFC. He ran past the goalkeeper, Rafael Cabral, and appeared to have an open net, but DeAndre Yedlin made a sliding clearance off the goal line in the 87th minute to preserve the draw for Real Salt Lake.
