Kyrgyzstan Hosts World Nomad Games Amid Diplomatic Gatherings
Kyrgyzstan celebrated its 35th independence anniversary on August 31, 2026, with the opening of the sixth World Nomad Games in Bishkek, an event that doubled as a major diplomatic gathering. The ceremony at the newly built Bishkek Arena, attended by more than 20 world leaders, featured a spectacular display of nomadic culture and served as a backdrop for high-level international engagement. The opening ceremony, which lasted nearly seven hours, included performances by thousands of artists and a speech by President Sadyr Japarov. Dignitaries present included Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
