Kroenke Buys Angels From Moreno for Record $3.9 Billion
The Los Angeles Angels have been sold to billionaire Stan Kroenke, the owner of the NFL's Los Angeles Rams, ending Arte Moreno's 23-year tenure as the team's controlling owner. The transaction, announced Tuesday, is valued at more than $3.9 billion, making it the most expensive sale in Major League Baseball history. Kroenke Sports Entertainment, Kroenke's holding company, is acquiring a controlling interest in the franchise. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, pending approval from Major League Baseball and other customary closing conditions. The sale price surpasses the previous MLB record of $3.9 billion set by the recent sale of the San Diego Padres.
