Khosla Family Buys Seattle Seahawks for $9.6B

Published 5 September 2026

The Seattle Seahawks have officially transitioned to new ownership, with Vinod Khosla and his family leading a group that completed the purchase of the franchise for $9.6 billion. The National Football League owners unanimously approved the sale on August 26, 2026, marking the most expensive transaction in league history. The deal officially closed on Thursday, September 3, 2026, eight days after the league's approval. The Khosla family now leads the ownership group, taking over from the Paul Allen estate, which had begun the process of selling the team in February. Vinod Khosla, founder of the Silicon Valley venture capital firm Khosla Ventures, will serve as the team's chair. Neeru Khosla is designated as the controlling owner and president of the Seahawks Charitable Foundation, while Neal Khosla will be vice chair. In addition to the Khosla family, the acquisition includes 12 limited partners holding minority stakes. This diverse group comprises investors with backgrounds in technology, finance, and professional sports. Among them are Mark Stevens, who holds a stake in the Golden State Warriors, and the Aramburuzabala family, descendants of the founders of Grupo Modelo.
