Kennedy Appoints Eight New Members to Preventive Health Task Force

Kennedy Jr. has appointed eight new members to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, a key federal advisory panel that determines which preventive health services private insurers and Medicaid must cover without cost-sharing under the Affordable Care Act. Dr. Seth Corey, a pediatric hematologist and oncologist at the Cleveland Clinic, was named the new chair. The task force will now operate with a single chair instead of three cochairs. The other seven appointees are Dr. Patrick Hunter, a Florida pediatrician; Dr. Ronald Karlsberg, a professor of medicine at UCLA; Dr. Venkatesh Murthy, a professor of preventive cardiology at the University of Michigan; Stephen Parente, an insurance and finance expert; Dr. Goldie StandsOverBull, lead family medicine physician at Texas Native Health; Dr. Louis Wilson, managing partner of Wichita Falls Gastroenterology Associates; and Dr. Dennis Wulfeck, a radiologist. The new members join eight existing members, including Dr. Ericka Gibson and Dr. Sai Lee.
