Karnataka food safety drive seizes Rs 5.99 lakh in products, closes units

Karnataka's food safety authorities conducted a statewide inspection drive on August 31, targeting sweet manufacturing units and other food businesses, resulting in the seizure of products worth approximately Rs 5.99 lakh and the temporary closure of several establishments. The operation, carried out by the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, uncovered widespread violations including expired products, improper labelling, and unhygienic conditions across multiple districts. The special drive was conducted in Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts, areas under the Greater Bengaluru Authority, Mysuru, Dakshina Kannada, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, and Hubballi-Dharwad.
