Karnataka AI University panel plans skilling roadmap

The consultation committee for the proposed Karnataka Artificial Intelligence University (KAIU) held its first meeting in Bengaluru on Saturday, September 5, 2026, focusing on immediate AI skilling initiatives and a phased roadmap for establishing the institution. The meeting brought together senior representatives from the technology industry, academia, and the Karnataka government to discuss measures to develop AI talent in the state. The 29-member committee, chaired by Infosys co-founder and Axilor Ventures Chairman Kris Gopalakrishnan, is tasked with preparing a roadmap for the phased establishment and operationalization of the proposed university. The committee is co-chaired by N. Manjula, Secretary of the Department of Electronics, IT, Biotechnology and Science Technology for the Karnataka government. Discussions centered on launching certificate, diploma, finishing school, executive education, and reskilling programs through industry and academic partnerships before the full-fledged university is established.
