Karmelo Anthony's Alleged Violent Texts, Photos Revealed

Newly revealed court documents have brought to light a trove of alleged racist, homophobic, and violent messages and images attributed to Karmelo Anthony, who was convicted of murder for fatally stabbing Austin Metcalf at a Texas high school track meet on April 2, 2025. Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison and is currently appealing his conviction, with a judge denying his request for a new trial on August 22, 2026. The extensive court materials, which were not presented to the jury during Anthony's June 2026 trial, include text messages, photographs, and videos documenting alleged misconduct dating back to 2021. Prosecutors had sought to introduce this evidence as extraneous offenses, arguing it demonstrated a pattern of behavior, but it was excluded from the trial proceedings due to a "gentleman's agreement" between the prosecution and defense. This agreement stipulated that neither side would introduce damaging character evidence about the teenagers involved, aiming to keep the trial focused solely on the confrontation that led to Metcalf's death.
