The controversy centers on a pathway that could see Bangar, the daughter of former India cricketer Sanjay Bangar, become eligible for the Women's Big Bash League from March 2027. Cricket Australia confirmed it has granted Bangar eligibility to participate in community and Premier Cricket across all states and territories. The decision was made under the board's Inclusion of Transgender and Gender Diverse Players in Elite Cricket Policy.
