Judge orders competency evaluation for ex-Turnstile guitarist

A judge has ordered a competency evaluation for former Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert, who faces charges including attempted first-degree murder for allegedly striking William Yates, the father of the band's lead singer Brendan Yates, with his vehicle. According to charging documents, Ebert drove his car toward the 79-year-old Yates, honked his horn, yelled obscenities, and then struck him. Yates sustained severe trauma to his lower body and legs. Yates told detectives that Ebert returned to the scene while he was injured on the ground, yelled that he "deserved it," and then drove away again. Ebert, 33, has maintained his innocence, professing that he did not commit a crime and that the police report is false. He has described the incident as self-defense.
