JJ Gabriel hits hat-trick on Youth League debut for United

Manchester United's 15-year-old forward JJ Gabriel announced himself on the European stage on Thursday, scoring a hat-trick on his UEFA Youth League debut as the club's under-19 side beat Azerbaijan's Sabah FK 5-0 at Leigh Sports Village. Amir Ibragimov and Jacob Watson scored early for United, with Gabriel adding a third before half-time. The teenager then struck twice late in the second half to complete his treble and claim the match ball in the opening fixture of the competition, which is contested by the under-19 teams of clubs in the Champions League league phase. He travelled with the squad for preseason, featuring as a substitute against Atletico Madrid in Stockholm, and has trained regularly with the senior group.
