Japan Confirms Hotel Stays for Asian Games Cricket Teams

Cricket teams at the upcoming Asian Games in Japan will receive hotel accommodation, the head of the Japan Cricket Association said Wednesday, addressing concerns about facilities that have led some national boards to consider sending weakened squads. The clarification comes after reports of inadequate arrangements for the tournament, which begins on September 17 in the Aichi Prefecture. Naoki Alex Miyaji, CEO of the Japan Cricket Association, stated that participating cricket teams are being offered hotel stays, contrasting with other sports that will be housed in more limited facilities such as a cruise ship or container hotels. He added that teams also have the flexibility to arrange their own accommodation if they choose. This announcement follows concerns raised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) regarding a shortage of five-star hotel rooms near the venue. The cricket competitions will be held at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, a converted baseball field that is a 40-minute train ride from central Nagoya. Reports have indicated that temporary facilities at the ground include tents serving as dressing rooms and distant washroom facilities.
