Jan Suraaj announces five Bihar MLC candidates, pledges jobs

Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor announced five candidates on Sunday for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council elections, pledging 10,000 jobs for educated unemployed youth in each constituency where the party wins. The elections, which will cover eight seats across about 30 districts, are pending an official announcement of dates by the Election Commission of India. Kishor, who is also the newly elected Bankipur MLA, made the announcements at a press conference in Patna. The candidates are Afaq Ahmed for the Saran Teachers constituency, Divya Jyoti for Patna Teachers, S P Rai for Darbhanga Teachers, Ravindra Yadav for Darbhanga Graduates, and Rajnish Ranjan for Kosi Graduates. The party has stated its intention to contest all eight seats, which include four teachers constituencies and four graduates constituencies. The terms of the current members expire in November 2026. The Jan Suraaj Party's entry is expected to create a multi-cornered contest for the seats. Kishor emphasized his commitment to the teaching community, stating he would personally support their movement and legitimate demands.
