James Farthing was arrested in Georgetown, Kentucky, on September 20 after Scott County deputies found him asleep in a running Ford Mustang in a Walmart parking lot, according to an arrest citation. Deputies described signs they considered consistent with impairment, including slurred speech, difficulty balancing, bloodshot or watery eyes, and the smell of alcohol and marijuana.
