Jacob Chase to Direct New Horror Film Sleepover for Universal in 2027

Director Jacob Chase, fresh off the successful opening of "Insidious: Out of the Further," is reuniting with producers Jason Blum and James Wan's Blumhouse Atomic Monster banner for a new original horror film titled "Sleepover." The project has been acquired by Universal Pictures and is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 8, 2027. Chase will direct the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Bryce McGuire, the screenwriter behind "Night Swim." The script is based on an original short story by McGuire. While specific plot details are being kept under wraps, the film has been described as the "quintessential sleepover nightmare.
