Jack Draper to miss rest of 2026 season targeting 2027 return

British tennis player Jack Draper announced on Tuesday he will miss the remainder of the 2026 season to recover from chronic injuries, targeting a return to the ATP Tour at the start of 2027. The 24-year-old, currently ranked 155th in the world, made the announcement in a lengthy post on Instagram, stating he is taking time to "reset and heal" after a difficult period. Draper has been managing a chronic elbow injury in his left arm and a separate right knee injury. He explained that a "complicated injury" following last year's Wimbledon has made it "incredibly challenging" to return to his previous level. "Managing so much change, adversity and pain has helped me to grow massively in many areas of my life but has also made me feel a level of fatigue that made it difficult to keep going," he wrote. The decision means Draper will not play in any Grand Slam tournaments this year. His last competitive match was a first-round defeat to Martín Landaluce at the Cincinnati Open in August. He was also in tears during a loss to Frances Tiafoe at the Canadian Open in Montreal earlier that month, where the elbow problem appeared to flare again.
