Israel warns PA of war over attack prep
Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz has instructed the military to prepare for an "all-out war" against the Palestinian Authority (PA) if its security forces initiate or are found to be preparing a large-scale attack against Israeli forces or settlements in the occupied West Bank. The threat, made in coordination with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was issued following a stabbing incident in the northern West Bank on Monday, September 7, 2026, in which a Palestinian assailant was killed by Israeli forces after injuring one person. Katz stated that if the PA's security mechanisms and affiliated bodies launch an attack comparable to the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led assault, or if definitive confirmation emerges that such an attack is imminent, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are directed to prepare for a full-scale war. This potential military campaign would target the PA's senior leadership, security services, and "terrorist infrastructure" based in areas like Ramallah, according to the defense minister.
