Israel Demolishes Hezbollah Tunnel Network in South Lebanon

Israeli forces demolished an extensive Hezbollah tunnel network beneath the Ali al-Taher ridge in southern Lebanon on Thursday, September 10, in a controlled explosion whose blast was felt across the region. The military said the demolition completed its operational control of the strategically important high ground, both above and below ground. Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported that a powerful explosion at the ridge in the Nabatieh region caused tremors and a deep rumble felt across Nabatieh and surrounding areas, and AFP journalists in southern Lebanon said they heard large explosions on Thursday evening. Local reports said the blast registered as a 4.1-magnitude seismic event, described as a consequence of the explosion rather than a natural earthquake. Israeli reports put the amount of explosives used at around 1,100 tons. According to the Israeli military, the underground infrastructure extended for more than two kilometers and contained dozens of Iranian-made rockets, missiles and drones, as well as machine guns, dozens of anti-tank missiles and hundreds of mines and explosive devices.
