Irwin family marks 20 years since death with tributes

Twenty years after the death of wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin, his widow Terri and children Bindi and Robert Irwin have shared heartfelt tributes commemorating the anniversary and reflecting on his enduring legacy. The family marked the occasion on Friday, September 4, 2026, with social media posts honoring the beloved television personality, known globally as "The Crocodile Hunter." Terri Irwin, who was married to Steve Irwin until his passing in 2006, described grief as a constant companion but expressed gratitude for the final weeks she and their children spent with him. "We were together as a family, on our crocodile research expedition, for what was to be our final six weeks together," Terri wrote in an Instagram post. She recalled those weeks as a "long and sweet goodbye," during which Steve spent time with Bindi and Robert, building swings and climbing trees, allowing the family to "slow down" and create lasting memories. She added that everyone gets to say goodbye, even if they don't realize it at the time, urging loved ones to cherish every moment.
