iRobot Unveils New Roombas With SealForce Tech
iRobot has introduced its latest flagship robot vacuum, the Roomba Max 875 Combo, alongside the Roomba Plus 678 Combo, at the IFA trade show in Berlin. The new models feature iRobot's proprietary SealForce Vacuuming Technology, designed to enhance deep cleaning on carpets by creating a tighter seal against floor surfaces. The Roomba Max 875 Combo, priced at $1,199, is described as the company's most powerful robot vacuum to date. Its SealForce technology lowers a skirt from the chassis onto carpet fibers, concentrating suction and airflow. This system, combined with 35,000 Pascals of suction and 20 liters per second of airflow, is claimed to deliver three times deeper carpet cleaning. For hard floors, the 875 model incorporates ThermaMist technology, which sprays a heated mist to soften dried-on stains before the PowerSpin Max roller mop scrubs them. This roller mop, which iRobot states is the industry's largest, scrubs with heated water at 300 revolutions per minute and 18 Newtons of downward pressure. The robot also features an AI-powered DriLift system that automatically detects carpets, raises the mop, and deploys a protective shield to keep rugs dry.
